Speed, Power and Endurance! HIIT Drum Practise: Day 29

Speed, Power and Endurance! HIIT Drum Practise: Day 29. Over the past month I have been practising everyday using the HIIT timer method (otherwise known as ‘The Optimised Practise Method’ © Richard Hemmings 2023).

This 37.5 minute workout comprises 25 sections, each working for 1’20” resting for 0’10”.

Q: Am I getting any better?

A: unequivocally, YES.

Whilst the progress is seems slow – I am after all still only practising around 30-minutes a day – it is definitely noticeable when I look back over the videos of the past few weeks. Being able to see myself back then (embarrassing as that is) allows me to see my progress. And I encourage you to do the same – video your workouts – because when you see yourself improving in your areas of weakness, all the pain you go through, all the sweat that stings your eyes, becomes worth it.

I have definitely noticed improvements in things like the single hand roll where I am learning to use moeller technique to get quicker. I am noticing that the paradiddle variations are helping me improvise more freely. With every single stroke roll I feel like I’m getting stronger and faster, and that my technique is improving. Whilst I’ve still got a long way to go, this is definitely the best method of practising I’ve found.

For this video I used this interval timer.
